Much Needed Vacation... April 2013

This past weekend we had the opportunity to go on a short vacation for a few days. We decided to go to SLC to do a little shopping, visit the planet aquarium, and go to the zoo. The weather wasn't suppose to be very good but I didn't care...I needed a get away. I was excited to get out of the house since we haven't really gone anywhere since Alee was born (which is about 8 1/2 months ago). It ended up being a really nice weekend with Joni's family and my mom. We did a lot of shopping (what's new)! :) Friday we went to the planet aquarium in Sandy and later drove up to SLC. Saturday we ended up going to the Hogle Zoo and after that we stopped by "This is The Place" for a train ride. We were really excited to take Alee to the zoo and show her all the animals. When we got there she was asleep and it was cold/rainy so we didn't wake her up...she sleep through most of it. :( Well have to plan better next time and go when there is better weather. Todd ended up getting called for a job Saturday night and had to fly out of SLC to Wyoming for a job. Sunday we headed home and stopped by IKEA (which I have never been to) and shopped for a couple hrs. All in all it was a good and much needed vacation.

WAY BEHIND!

I have written a bunch of posts trying to stay updated on all the new things going on with Alee and our little family, but I haven't gotten around to publishing them. I was waiting to attach pictures to the posts, but now I'm really behind so I'll just have to attach pictures later. So there will be a few posts a little out of order but at least they will be up and well be able to read later and remember the fun and exciting things that went on.

8 Months March 2013

Our little baby is almost nine months old! She is growing so fast and doing so many new things. She is very mobile now and crawling around everywhere. She is able to open almost all of the cupboards and drawers and loves to pull everything out. She has attempted to stand on her own although she usually gets nervous and sits down before she realizes she could probably stand easily all by herself. She can say "dada" "mama" and "baba." It melts my heart to hear her say "mama" I've been anxiously waiting for that! :) In the middle of the night when she wakes up she will usually start to cry and before long I hear "mama, mama," she has me figured out and knows I can't ignore that sweet little voice. Everyday we fall more and more in love with this little girl. We love the little personalty that is evolving in her and she always has us laughing at something funny she is doing. We just can't get enough of her! Alee is a very busy girl and keeps us on our toes. She loves to explore and find new things to play with. Everytime Todd goes into the office it's not long before Alee is crawling right behind him. She loves to go in dads office and play with the printer and push all the buttons. :) Alee is such a smart girl! Anytime we start singing patty cake she knows and she'll start clapping her hands. Right now her daddy is teaching her to hold one finger up when he says one. She's not quite got it but i'm sure it won't be long ...baby einstein on our hands.

Seven Months & Standing

I can't seem to keep up with this blog let alone all the new things Alee is doing at seven months. I've probably said this before, but I think we have a genius on our hands! :) She picks things up so fast that it seems like every week she is doing something new that were just amazed by. She has really got the crawling thing down  and now she is starting to pull herself up on things. She loves to crawl over to the entertainment center and grab ahold of the knobs and stand up. Unfortunately with her standing she has also been falling a lot and has not yet mastered a soft landing. Poor little thing has gotten a few bumps and bruises along her way.

Pics coming soon...

6 Month Milestones

My little baby is growing up way too fast! Alee had her 6 month wellness check the first of February. Here is a little update on her:

At 6 months... Alee weighs 14 lbs 15 oz and is 31% in her weight. She is 26 inches long and 63% in her height. I've been pretty surprised that she has stayed in the higher % for her height since neither of her parents are very tall! :)

6 Months
Alee and Dr. Thompson
This is the worst part...getting shots! ;(

What's Alee doing at 6 months....

- Alee loves to say "dada" still hasn't said mama although we practice everyday. :)
- She is very active and loves being up where she can see what is going on...she doesn't want to miss a thing. Sometimes it's almost impossible to feed her because everytime she hears a noise she has to sit up to see what's going on.
- Alee has mastered rolling over and is now really trying to crawl. Well put a toy or something she wants a few feet in front of her and its so funny to watch her crawl to it.
- She has learned to sit up on her own from laying position.
- Alee has become quite the mama's girl. I hate when she's sad, but she always wants her mama when she is.
- We are feeding Alee two solids a day...she loves carrots, sweet potatoes, and squash. She doesn't care for her peas or green beans.
- Todd can really get Alee to laugh (even better than I can).
- We thought maybe she has started teething because she has been chewing on everything and drooling like crazy but no teeth yet! I have no problem waiting. :)
- Alee is one tough little cookie! Were amazed at how tough this little girl is. She will bump her head, hit herself in the head...she'll let out a whimper but she hardly ever cries!

Love my baby girl!

Those are just a few new things she's been doing over the last month.

Five Months Of Alee

Where has the time gone! I can't believe our baby girl is already FIVE months old! It's crazy how much she has changed over the past few months. It seems like every week she's learning something new. I've  loved being able to cut back at work and spend as much time as possible with this sweet girl...it never gets old! I love waking up to her smiling face every morning, playing with her all day, and rocking this cuddly girl to sleep. Alee has been such a joy in our lives and we are sooo glad that we get to be her parents!
5 Months Old...

It's almost impossible to get this busy girl to hold still

She looks so innocent in this pic! :)
Here's a rundown of what's going on with our little Alee bug at 5 months...

Appearance: Our tiny 4 lb 13 oz baby we brought home from the hospital is no longer a tiny baby. Alee is now weighing about 14 lbs. She has the cutest little body and shape. She has started to get these little rolls on her legs that are so cute; I just want to squeeze them! Her hair has yet to come in, but were keeping our fingers crossed that she'll have hair before she's one. I don't know if all moms think there kids are the cutest, but we really think we have the prettiest little girl. Alee has the sweetest little face! She has these pretty almond shaped eyes, a cute button nose, and these pouty little lips. This little girl probably gets more compliments than anyone! :D

Likes: Alee loves her toes! She will lay on her back and chew on her little toes forever. It is so funny to watch her bend her leg all the way up by her head and put her foot in her mouth! :D I'm surprised when she pulls her foot out that she has any toes left with the way she chews on them. Alee loves playing in her baby Einstein bouncer she got for christmas from her grandma Lisa. She goes crazy in this thing. She loves to push and pull on all the little toys and be bounces around like a maniac. I'll have to post a video later to show this little girl in action. She has some strong legs and she can really get to bouncing!
Alee also likes: her baths, when daddy comes home, watching other kids play, and anything she can get in her mouth.

Dislikes: Alee is the happiest little girl, there isn't much she dislikes. However; when she doesn't like something her face turns red and she lets out a little grunt. It's pretty funny! Things she dislikes...She doesn't like when I try to wash under her chin during bath time, she doesn't like when I rub lotion on her face, and she definitely doesn't like waiting for her baba!

Sleeping/naps: Naps...what is that? Alee rarely takes a nap longer than 30-40 min. Her best naps are in the morning shortly after she has eaten and then around seven P.M. She is a busy little girl and doesn't like to miss out on anything. She is finally starting to sleep through most of the night. We usually give her a bath, feed her, and have her in bed around 9:00. She will usually sleep until about 5:30-6 a.m., eats, then goes back to sleep until about 8:30. There have been a few nights she has slept all through the night and it has been heaven! I forgot what it was like to get more than 5 hrs of sleep.

New things she's doing: Alee has mastered rolling over. We put her on her back and before we can turn around she is flipped over on her belly and ready to play. She has not yet started crawling but if she needs to get somewhere she will roll there! Alee has also started to talk a little...she has started saying "dada!" I was a little sad that she didn't say mama first...come on!...I gave birth to her, I feed her, and spend the most time with her...what the heck! :) What can I say...she loves her dada! Alee has also got pretty good at laughing. Todd can make her laugh better than I can but it is so cute!

Food: For the most part Alee's diet has pretty much consisted of just mama's milk. Towards the middle of Jan we did start to put a little oatmeal in her bottle to see if it would help keep her satisfied through the night. At first she wasn't quite sure about it but she seems to love it now. We've tried to feed her some squash, but she hasn't quite mastered swallowing. It usually makes it in her mouth just long enough for her to spit it back out. Were still working on it...

What we love about her: There are so many things we LOVE about our little Alee bug! She is always so happy. I don't know if there has been a morning that she hasn't woke up with a big smile on her face...it just melts my heart! She hardly ever cries unless she is really tired and then it really doesn't last long. We love her cute personality and we can't wait to see more and she grows. We love all the funny noises and faces she pulls...she's quite the crack up sometimes. We love that we were chosen to be her parents and now we could never imagine our lives without her! It's crazy how much joy Alee has brought to our lives.

Where has my baby's hair gone?

When Alee was born I was so excited that she had lots of DARK hair. I LOVE dark hair! We knew that she would lose a little hair, but what we didn't know is that she would basically lose all of it. I loved her hair! :( We had some friends tell us that if we buzzed her head it would help her hair to start growing in thicker and fuller. Yeah...nope, that didn't work. We buzzed her head and now she has even less hair than before! Oh well, she was starting to get a mullet anyway.  I guess at least we know she would be just as cute with or without hair. :D

She had some much dark hair...I loved it!
Look mom...NO hair! :)
